Arbutus painting Golden Summer by Gillian Gandossi

Golden Summer

acrylic on canvas
29″ x 48″

Early in the morning we arrived at a private property on the south end, near the Indian Reservation, where we would spend the day painting. The shoreline wrapped around the edge of this land, and a great arbutus was perched on the point. The gentle morning breeze danced in the leaves, and the dry summer grass was golden. I sat under that tree all morning painting and feeling inspired.

Purchasing Original Paintings

Interested in one of my paintings? Let me know which painting you have in mind. Paintings can be picked up, or we can arrange shipping. If you are here on Saltspring Island, I can bring it to you to see how it looks in your space.

Selections of my work are available as giclee prints. They are museum quality, printed with archival inks on archival matte paper. Each print is signed, matted to fit standard size frames and comes with a certificate of authenticity. See the them in my online shop:

I can create a unique painting designed specifically for you. Inquiries are welcome. We can discuss size, color palette, subject and price. Here are some examples of commissioned works I have done:
“Through the Trees”
“Blue Skies”

About the Canvas

I build my own stretcher-frames, and stretch the canvas. The paintings are 1.5″ deep, with the outside edges preserved as clean raw canvas. This method of preparation allows for a frameless presentation
